Why every leader needs Masculine and Feminine balance within?
A society in which there is a dynamic balance between the feminine and masculine energies is a thriving and prosperous society
"You don't need to learn how to love, you only need to remove the obstacles that stand between you and love.” - Rumi
We became aware that there is a great deal of misunderstanding when we talk about balancing the masculine and feminine within as we were communicating about our Heart Masters retreat in Ibiza in October.
Many men do not recognise the feminine energy they have; in fact, some even view them as weaknesses and refuse to relate, harming their own health and wellbeing as well. On the other side, many women have been suppressing their feminine and adopting the masculine attributes in order to succeed in the patriarchal economic world.
Let’s intend that this dis-ease, and this denial of who we really are ends with us.
We need to wake up to the fact that we are all whole and complete and we are in this together. The masculine and feminine elements that exist within both men and women are known as Yin and Yan, the sun and the earth, the light and the dark (shadow), the left and right hemispheres of the brain, and Shiva and Shakti.
Since Newton, science has presented a deterministic cosmos made up of random components and particles that are bound together by unchanging mechanical principles. For the goals of classical economics and its related rational-choice-based models, Newtonian sciences were particularly well suited.
The growth of the idea that humans are superior to nature led to technological advancements that aimed to manipulate and dominate nature rather than coexist “with it” and regenerate “as it”. The new world, which is heading into the quantum realm with the evolution of human-animal-plant consciousness, is no longer meaningful if we hold on to these mechanical conceptions.
School, business and society have conditioned us to constantly be in our masculine, to keep doing the action, to establish objectives, to achieve rigid deadlines, and to always be in the doing mode. We have been educated from a young age to constantly think, be rational, and analyse using our minds. We are motivated to act by this masculine force.
However, if we constantly think and act without paying attention to being, we exhaust ourselves, and our surroundings including our planet. This explains why so many of us are exhausted, suffer from chronic fatigue, and feel agitated, anxious, or sad.
The female energy needs to rise right now, with the support of the masculine (and vice versa).
We become more expressive, intuitive, flexible, caring, empathetic, and flowing when we channel our feminine energies. We provide our bodies with the rest and nourishment they need. The feminine does not think; rather, it feels—from the womb and heart (for men; the gut!).
We have the ability to seek and accept assistance because of our feminine energies. Because of our rejection of femininity, it's challenging for many of us to receive.
We hear a lot about toxic masculinity as well as toxic femininity, so then what are healthy masculine and feminine energy?
Stereotypically feminine characteristics have been identified as nurturing, sensitivity, creativity, cooperativeness, expressiveness, modesty, humility, empathy, compassion, and being emotional, kind, helpful, committed, and understanding. The defining characteristics of femininity vary between, and even within societies.
Our feminine energies allow us to ask for help and receive it. When the feminine energy is not healthy, we find it hard to let go and receive.
Traits traditionally viewed as masculine in Western society include strength, courage, confidence, determination, independence, leadership, and assertiveness. The masculine energy is stable and more predictable. Its strengths are willpower, clarity, and focus. The masculine energy likes to create structures and rules, so it knows how to apply logic correctly. When the masculine energy is not healthy, we become over-controlling and competitive at all costs.
Another way to look at the masculine energy is as knowledge whereas the feminine is knowing.
Gender identity is the term used to express how you identify — this can be male, female, both, neither, somewhere in between, and more. There are now 68 terms that describe gender identity and expression, and no matter what gender identity and expression, everyone possesses both feminine and masculine energy.
Sacred Union
When a human is integrated into both his/her feminine and masculine, a new kind of sacred relationship can occur, within us, among us and with nature. When partners are not trying to fill the emptiness with another, the relationship can reach the heights of deep sacred union that can deeply transform relationships.
We believe this is the new way of building inspirational, healthy, thriving and prosperous relationships, leadership skills, and teams to be able to co-create regenerative futures together.
It’s time to create a society in balance. A society in which there is a dynamic balance between the feminine and masculine energies, which results in a high level of consciousness, equality, inclusive by design, space for free will, a deep connection with nature and a deep trust in our inner wisdom, our inner self and our intuition. It's time for leaders to step up and be part of the healing process of the world.
At Heart Masters, we work for 3 days as women and as men in two parallel tracks, as well as other gender identities joining groups based on their own choice, to dig deep into our shadows, (often invisible) addictions, assumptions, limitations and belief systems no longer serving us, often stuck into old patriarchal models. Then we come together to design Systems of Peace (Leadership of Peace, Economies of Peace and Cultures of Peace) from the space of the heart, as the mind divides and the heart is always inclusive.

I agree! We need to move away from envisioning the Anthropocene to imagining and creating the Androgynocene! I have been writing about this for a while now:
